(Yes I’m calling it a shoot, you don’t have to be a celebrity for these floors to be your stage!!). Look no further ladies & gentlemen – Blank Canvas have you covered with our smokey eye tutorial.
How to do a smokey eye?
- The key to any smokey eye look is to have the perfect base – so start off by covering your eyelid with a primer – this will give the eyeshadow something to hold onto.
- We all know that the perfect smokey eye makeup involves black pencil eye liner – don’t worry about being too fussy at this stage though, you’ll be doing some serious blending shortly so think more smudged lines than trying to keep inside the lines.
- Use a black pencil eye liner on the lower water line & then the lower and upper lash line.
- Next we’re going to get smudging – smokey eye makeup is all about perfecting that smudge and to do it you need the perfect brush. We recommend you use the E26 vegan friendly blending brush. Synthetic makeup brushes are especially good when it comes to creating the smokey eye look but it does take time. Just keep on blending until you’ve reached the required level of smokiness.
- Using our master palette (Which is currently on offer HURRY, HURRY, HURRY) we like to use shade “Strut” and an E41 Tapered Blending brush to apply this all over the eye lid.
- Next use shade “Core” for your upper lid – the E26 brush tis the perfect brush for this again, just make sure to give it a good wipe beforehand.
- Now in this particular smokey eye tutorial we like to do our winged liner early on – this is to help us get the shape we want. We recommend you use Blank Canvas “Winging it liner” and starting at the tear duct work your way along the lash line and then make the wing as exaggerated or understated as you desire.
- As we’re using more neutral shades this particular tutorial leans more towards a muted neutral brown smokey eye rather than the vampy look that you may associate with a smokey eye.
- At Blank Canvas we don’t like to use more than 3 colours in our smokey eyes – so from the master palette – take “Corruption”, “Hickory” & “Cocoa” then starting with the darkest colour at the lash line / outside of your eye and work your way towards the inner eye getting lighter as you go along. Use the E41 tapered blending brush for this one again – get blending babes!
- Finally finish off with applying your mascara or false lashes then run your liquid winging it eyeliner over again.
